SHOAL RIVER, Man. -- Family members of three teenage boys who went missing while boating last Friday remain hopeful the trio will turn up.
"They're still optimistic they could be somewhere in the bush," said Al Brass, chief of Shoal River Cree Nation and great-uncle of the three missing boys. "We're going to continue (searching) until those boys are found, whether they're drowned or out there in the bush."
Curtis Brass, 16, his 15-year-old cousin, Elijah Brass, and another cousin, 16-year-old Rodney Brass, were reported missing Friday night after failing to return from an afternoon camping trip on Lake Winnipegosis.
A preliminary search was launched almost immediately by Swan River Mounties, who were joined by residents of the reserve and Pelican Rapids.
The search continued throughout the long weekend, involving at least 20 power boats and a helicopter that flew patterns over the area. As of last night, they had not been found.
