Man Who Shot Exotic Dancer Sentenced To 15 Years In Prison O'Neal Sentenced Today
UPDATED: 12:06 pm EDT June 27, 2005
CLEVELAND -- A man who admitted to breaking into a Brunswick Gentlemen's Club and shooting an exotic dancer was sentenced Monday to 15 years in prison, NewsChannel5 reported.
William "Bruce" O'Neal pleaded guilty to kidnapping, felonious assault and numerous firearm violations.
Police said O'Neal, a frequent patron of Christie's Cabaret, apparently fell in love with one of the topless dancers, Tina Eckel.
When the relationship turned sour, O'Neal, 54, charged into the club and shot Eckel in the stomach.
Eckel, 38, survived the shooting.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The man who admitted committing a series of highway shootings that terrorized central Ohio has agreed to drop his insanity defence and plead guilty, a judge said yesterday.
Charles McCoy Jr.'s plea would avoid a second trial. Jurors could not decide earlier this year whether McCoy was legally insane during the shootings, which happened over five months in 2003 and 2004. One woman was killed.
Barring a last-minute change of heart by McCoy or prosecutors, McCoy will enter the plea today, Judge Charles Schneider said after meeting with McCoy's lawyer yesterday.
The shootings frightened commuters and residents for months as bullets struck vehicles and houses at different spots along or near Interstate 270, which encircles Columbus and accommodates about 77,000 vehicles a day on average.
Gail Knisley, 62, died Nov. 25, 2003, while a friend was driving her to a doctor's appointment.
