MONTREAL -- Fourteen young people were arrested yesterday as Montreal police dismantled a drug trafficking network allegedly involving the Italian Mafia.
Citizen complaints resulted in 12 warrants being executed by some 150 officers in and around Montreal.
Three women were among those arrested.
Police seized drugs and more than $74,000 in cash, five vehicles, three loaded weapons and a bulletproof vest. The drugs included marijuana, cocaine, crack, GHB, ecstasy and Viagra.

MONTREAL -- The boyfriend of Olympic champion Myriam Bedard was formally charged yesterday with theft and possession of some 20 stolen paintings valued at $100,000.
Nima Mazhari, 50, is accused of taking works by Montreal artist Ghitta Caiserman, a woman in her 80s whose paintings can be found in several museums and private collections.
Mazhari apparently shared a studio with the artist.
Mazhari was arrested July 6. He is scheduled to return to court Oct. 27.
Bedard won two gold medals at the 1994 Winter Olympics in the biathlon.
