Police used infrared cameras to assist in capturing an armed man in Oakland County earlier this week.
Police said Rick Lovely (pictured, left) was drunk and threatened to kill his wife with a shotgun. He apparently fired one shot at the woman before hiding out on a property in Brandon Township, Local 4 reported.
Deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff's Department surrounded the property, but had difficulty locating the man in the darkness, the station reported.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Aviation Unit helicopter, which is equipped with forward-looking infrared units that can detect heat sources in darkness, was able to locate the suspect.
Officers on the ground then closed in on Lovely and took him into custody, the station reported.
Police confiscated 13 firearms from the Brandon Township home.
No injuries were reported in the shooting.

Prosecutors are considering charges against a man who allegedly held his 6-year-old son against his will with a kitchen knife after assaulting his live-in girlfriend.
Waterford police responded to a 7 a.m. call from the woman's mother who said the 26 year old Boston Street resident was being held, along with the couple's two children in the home.
When officers arrived at the house, they discovered the doors locked and barricaded. Police forced their way into the house, and they were able to remove the woman.
The woman told the officers that her boyfriend had a large kitchen knife and was holding their 6-year-old son in an upstairs bedroom.
Police spoke with the man while he held onto the boy on a bed under a blanket, according to a press release.
Officers used Tasers to subdue the man, recover the knife and take him into custody. The boy was not injured.
The woman told police the incident began at 3 a.m. and that her live-in boyfriend had tied her up during the alleged attack, but she was able to break free and call her mother.
She was treated for minor injuries from the alleged assault. The couple's second child, a 1 year old, was not injured.
The man was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
The Oakland County Prosecutors Office will review the incident for potential charges.

Body Stolen From Morgue, Dumped In Trash Scam Artists Pose As Funeral Home Workers
POSTED: 4:53 pm EDT June 8, 2005 UPDATED: 7:23 pm EDT June 8, 2005
DETROIT -- A body stolen from a local hospital morgue was found behind a strip mall Wednesday afternoon, according to Local 4 reports.
The Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office said the body of an 86-year-old man was taken from the Providence Hospital morgue in Southfield on Saturday at about 11:30 p.m.
The body was apparently dumped in a trash bin behind a Rite Aid on Rosa Parks Boulevard, just south of Clairmount Avenue on Detroit's west side.
Police said a 22-year-old man and a 28-year-old man posed as funeral home workers and stole the body from the hospital in an attempt to pull an insurance scam.
One of the men was arrested and is being held at the Oakland County Jail. The other man was taken into custody at the Southfield Police Department. Police said both admitted to the crime.
"What they were saying they were going to do is get life insurance out on the person and then a couple weeks later claim the person died, take the body to a funeral home, get the death certificate and then turn it in," said Detective Robert Shelide, of the Southfield Police Department.
Investigators said the body found in the dumpster matched the description of the man that was missing from the morgue.
The 86-year-old died last week from natural causes, Local 4 reported. He was a decorated veteran of WWII and was scheduled to be buried this weekend at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Mich., just west of Battle Creek, the station reported.
Police said the men accused in the incident attempted a similar scam in Grand Rapids, but failed.
Authorities in Grand Rapids notified Southfield police about the men, which helped lead to an arrest, the station reported.
Police said the men could face felony larceny and conspiracy charges.

Two Detroit teachers were held at gunpoint on their way into school on Friday morning, Local 4 reported.
Rudy Johnson, a 7th grade language arts teacher at Marquette Elementary/Middle School on Canyon Street, said before she entered the school at about 8 a.m., a man approached her from behind and pointed a gun to her face.
"A man points a gun at you. What do you think? He's going to blow you away, right?" said Johnson.
The man also held the gun to the head of another teacher before robbing both of them, the station reported.
Johnson (pictured, left) said the man stole her purse, her car keys and the rings off of her fingers. He also got away with credit cards and cash, according to Local 4.
Students were not in the building at the time of the robbery, but classes were still in session Friday for the last day of school, the station learned. Once children arrived, they were brought to their classrooms, Local 4 reported.
The gunman fled the building and police are searching the neighborhood surrounding the school.
Johnson said she no longer feels safe coming to work. "I can tell you right now, I'm not coming early," Johnson said. "I'm going to come in maybe about 10 minutes before the kids."
A school employee gave police a description of the robber. Police have not released further details.

Police: Local Family Beaten In Dispute Over Car Father Taken Into Custody POSTED: 7:48 am EDT June 28, 2005 UPDATED: 7:21 pm EDT June 28, 2005 A Dearborn man was taken into custody after police said he beat his wife and teenage daughters with a crowbar early Tuesday. The incident occurred at a home in the 8700 block of Shadthingy Street during an argument over the family van, Local 4 reported. Police said when the man's wife refused to give him the keys to the vehicle, he picked up a crowbar and started hitting her with it. The man then turned the weapon on his 14-year-old daughter, Yesmeen, and his 16-year-old daughter, Sanah, when they attempted to break up the fight, police said. Officers who arrived at the scene found the three female victims bludgeoned inside the home, according to the station's reports. The victims were transported to Henry Ford Hospital for treatment, according to police. The woman was listed in critical condition. Yesmeen was in fair condition and Sanah's condition was stabilized and she was transferred to Children's Hospital, the station reported. The names of the man and his wife were not yet released. Two other children were not harmed in the attack, Local 4 learned. Yesmeen, 16, and Sanah, 14, are rushed to a hospital after what police say was a beating at a Dearborn home. Local 4 initially reported the victims were stabbed, but police confirmed they were beaten. Yesmeen and Sanah are students at Fordson High School in Dearborn. Principal Oussama Baydoun said the teens appeared to have a normal home life. "There was never any signs for us," Baydoun said. "I always saw two, well adjusted, very popular young ladies." Neighbors told Local 4 that they often heard the couple arguing, but never thought it would lead to violence. "I just was woken up to the sound of sirens and them carrying people out of the house on stretchers," said Mary Cyr, Dearborn resident. The man accused in the beating could be charged sometime this week. www.clickondetroit.com/news/4659332/detail.html?subid=22100415&qs=1;bp=t

Police are investigating the death of an Eastern Michigan University student who was found in the trunk of his car Sunday night.
Anthony Lagos was found dead at about 8:30 p.m. in the trunk of his 1977 Cutlass in the parking lot of the Maple Village Self Storage on North Maple Road, according to a report in The Ann Arbor News. Police said the manager of the storage facility noticed the parked car with keys in the trunk, opened the trunk and discovered Lagos' body.
Police have not found any signs of foul play, and believe the death could have been accidental, Local 4 learned.
"It appears that the hinge spring in the trunk wasn't functioning, and he was fixing something with the trunk lid held up with a piece of wood,'' said Detective Sgt. Richard Kinsey in the paper's report. "Somehow the wood became dislodged, and the trunk latched and locked him in the car.''
Kinsey said it was not unusual for Lagos to work on his vehicle at the storage facility. Police believe Lagos became locked in the trunk sometime Saturday night.
An autopsy was expected to be performed Monday.
"We haven't ruled anything out, and we're still investigating this tragic incident,'' said Kinsey in the paper's report.

A Mott High School student was sentenced Monday for posting a "hit list" message to a Web site.
The 16-year-old boy from Warren was placed on one year of probation and will undergo psychotherapy and must perform 40 hours of community service, Local 4 reported.
The teen had pleaded no contest to charges of authoring the message, which was posted at a site located on Yahoo! GeoCities, a free Web hosting service.
The message, which had the heading, "Mott Hit List 2005," was e-mailed to 47 students at the school. The body of the message read, "I hate you. Since my last day is next week, I'll never have to see any of you ever again. Thank god."
Warren Mott Principal Pat Adams said that after the e-mail was sent, the student apparently pulled the message from the site and replaced it with an apology.
The 16-year-old has been ordered to stay away from the Internet, alcohol and anyone to whom the list was distributed.
