BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio -- Six people, including two children, were found shot to death yesterday morning in neighbouring farmhouses, and investigators believe one of the victims was responsible for the slayings, a sheriff's officer said.
The same family owned both houses on a farm of several hundred hectares. Two bodies were found in one farmhouse and four were found in another.
Authorities said the shootings probably happened between 6 and 10 a.m. at the farm west of Bellefontaine, a town of 13,000 people, about 70 km northwest of Columbus.
"I've being doing this for 35 years, and I've never seen anything like this," Logan County sheriff's Lieut. Chuck Stout said.
Investigators believe one of the victims was responsible for the attack, Stout said. Detectives were interviewing friends and family members of the victims, whose identities were not immediately released.
A seventh person shot in the neck called a friend who alerted authorities, Sheriff Michael Henry said. The victim was flown to Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. No information was available on the person's condition.

(CNN) -- On the same day he was to attend his high school graduation ceremony, Scott Moody, 18, shot five friends and relatives to death and wounded another before killing himself, Ohio police said Monday.
Logan County Sheriff Michael Henry said Moody shot people Sunday in two nearby homes outside Bellefontaine in an apparent murder-suicide. Moody's sister Stacy Moody, 15, was wounded in the neck and was hospitalized Monday in critical condition, Henry said.
Scott Moody's body was found in a house Sunday along with the bodies of his mother, Sheri Shafer, 37, and two of his friends, Megan Karus, 19, and Paige Harshbarger, 14. Stacy Moody was found in the kitchen of the home after managing to call her step-sister, who alerted authorities, Henry said.
The bodies of Scott Moody's grandparents, Sharyl Shafer, 66, and Gary Shafer, 67, were found dead in the kitchen of another house about a quarter mile away, he said.
Henry said investigators don't know the reasons behind the shootings. "That's the main, No. 1 question -- why?" he said.
The shootings probably began at the grandparents' home between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sunday, Henry said. Moody apparently shot the victims while they were sleeping, said Det. Jeff Cooper, who added a .22-caliber Marlin rifle found at the scene was being tested.
Cooper said there had been a party at the other house -- where most of the victims were found. Scott Moody and Megan Karus were due to graduate Sunday from Riverside High School in nearby De Graff, Ohio, Cooper said. He said autopsies were being conducted on all the victims.
Cooper said Karus' body was found in the living room of the second home and the bodies of Harshbarger, Sheri Shafer, and Moody were all found in bedrooms upstairs.
The killings have shocked the town of about 13,000, about 45 miles northwest of Columbus, Henry said. "You can't describe how you feel," he said. "It's tough. It's very tough on everyone. I feel so bad for the families."
Before the killings, police had visited Scott Moody's home in response to 10 "nuisance calls," Henry said, but nothing serious was reported. A neighbor, Iris Angle, said the tragedy was "such a shock" and the victims were "very nice people, nice neighbors."
"I just can't imagine what they're going through," she said

3 Teens Accused Of Kidnapping 10-Year-Old Boy Boys Were Playing Video Games
UPDATED: 9:55 am EDT July 28, 2005
AMHERST, Ohio -- Three Amherst teenagers are accused of holding a 10-year-old Elyria boy against his will.
The teens were charged Wednesday with kidnapping and aggravated menacing, which police said is threatening someone's life.
The case started when the boy was at his grandmother's home and went next door to play video games with the teens.
Police said the teens stopped playing the games and started a real-life drama with real weapons.
Officers said the teens hog-tied the child with a telephone cord and threatened him with a shotgun and a bow and arrow.
The boy finally broke loose and ran from the house.
The grandmother of the fourth-grade honor roll student said he's having trouble sleeping since Monday's attack.
The teenagers denied all of the charges in court Wednesday. Two of the teens, ages 15 and 17 remain locked up. A 16-year-old was released, but must wear an electronic ankle bracelet until the next court hearing.

Former Football Star Turns Self In On Murder Charges Walker Being Held On $2 Million Bond
UPDATED: 6:40 am EDT August 2, 2005
AKRON, Ohio -- A former Buchtel High School football star is in jail Monday morning, NewsChannel5 reported.
Canton police said Stephen Walker, 19, shot and killed a store patron, Michael Cheek, Friday night.
Walker, who was also a member of the University of Pittsburgh team, turned himself in to police Sunday.
He is being held on a $2 million bond.
Walker and Cheek started arguing inside the station, Lt. James Cole said. A witness said Cheek was trying to get to his car when he was shot.
He was taken unconscious to a hospital and died shortly after the shooting, authorities said.
Walker was dismissed from the Pittsburgh football program in early December 2004 and has not been a student at the school since then, Panthers spokesman E.J. Borghetti said.
Borghetti would not say why he was dismissed from the program.
Before he was dismissed, Walker, a defensive back, was on the team for just over four months and did not play in any games, Borghetti said.
Walker started at quarterback for three seasons at Buchtel High School.

CINCINNATI -- The white stuff from the ice cream truck wasn't vanilla-flavored, police say.
Officers working undercover in the Avondale neighborhood say they became suspicious when they watched a teen take something from the truck and put it in his pocket.
"It wasn't a hand-to-hand transaction of ice cream, that's for sure," said Sgt. Rick Lehman.
Police chased the teen and say they found cocaine in his pocket. A man with him had more than a pound of powder cocaine and a .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol, police said. Both were arrested.
The man, 22, was charged with drug trafficking, drug possession, illegally having a gun and carrying a concealed weapon.
Police, who say they've had other cases of illicit sales from ice cream trucks, found the truck nearby after a search.
A police dog indicated he smelled drugs inside, Lehman said. The driver was arrested. Police were investigating further.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- Police in Springfield have filed aggravated robbery and aggravated arson charges against a man and a juvenile for allegedly robbing an unconscious man and then setting him on fire.
Derek Sisler, 21, and the juvenile are accused of setting John Gano, 41, of Dayton, on fire as he lay unconscious in an alley Saturday night.
Authorities said Sisler and the juvenile found Gano passed out from drinking alcohol behind a dumpster.
After allegedly stealing the man's wallet, the pair went to Sisler's house where Sisler got a water bottle and put gasoline in it.
Police said the two went back to Gano, Sisler doused him with the gasoline and the juvenile used a lighter to start the fire.
Sisler called paramedics when he said he felt the man needed medical assistance.
Gano suffered first and second degree burns to his legs and hand and was treated at Mercy Medical Center.

DELAWARE, Ohio -- A Columbus woman who prosecutors say pretended to have cancer and collected almost $2,000 from a support club died Saturday after setting herself on fire, NewsChannel5 partner ONN reported.
Delaware County prosecutors say Kara W. Hurt told members of the Moms Offering Moms Support Club in the Columbus suburb of Powell that she underwent chemotherapy and a lumpectomy.
Members voluntarily gave her donations. But one woman grew suspicious after talking to a relative of Hurt's who said she wasn't ill and that woman went to the police.
Delaware County Sheriff Al Myers said 30-year-old Hurt drove her pickup to Alum Creek State Park late Friday or early Saturday and set herself on fire.
She died Saturday morning at Ohio State University Medical Center.
Myers said Hurt left a note saying that she had embarrassed her family and felt that nobody would ever trust her again.

RIVERSIDE, Ohio -- Police are investigating a robbery in a Dayton suburb that ended in a group of people walking down the street wrapped only in trash bags.
Police say thieves robbed a dozen poker players at gunpoint during a game early Friday at a private club in Riverside. Before leaving, they stripped the players of their clothes and tied them together with shoelaces and belts.
The victims managed to free themselves and find the trash bags in about an hour, but by then, the robbers were long gone.
One of the poker players says the thieves were in the club for nearly an hour and even took the time to search through the cars in the parking lot.
Police say they have fewer officers patrolling the city because of budget cuts.
