DUNDALK, Md. -- One person is dead and another is in the hospital with stab wounds following a fire at a Dundalk rowhouse.
Baltimore County police said they got a call about a stabbing around 3 a.m. Sunday in the 7200 block of Holabird Avenue. When they arrived, the home was on fire.
Police said officers found Eveyln Amereihn, 63, of Baltimore, dead inside the house. Police identified the stabbing victim found outside the house as William Clark Mitchell, 22, of Baltimore, who was taken to Bayview Medical Center.
The medical examiner ruled Amereihn's death a homicide, saying her body was so badly burned that a positive identification could not be reached until Monday.
According to Baltimore County police, Mitchell just got to the house with Amereihn's 16-year-old granddaughter when a man running from the house stabbed him.
Arson and homicide detectives continue to investigate the cause of the fire, which caused about $50,000 in damage.
