WASHINGTON COUNTY - - Monday August 26, 2002 marks the one-year anniversary since the body of 28-year-old Lorenzo Okaruru was found in a field south of Hillsboro and the case is still unsolved. Okaruru died of severe blunt force trauma to the head. His body was found near SW Farmington Road and Rood Bridge Road. Okaruru, who also went by the name Loni Kai, was a cross dresser and was wearing female clothing at the time of his murder. He was last seen alive in the area of SW Murray Road and SW Tualatin Valley Highway, in Beaverton about 3:30 a.m. on Sunday August 26, 2001. He may have been hitchhiking in the Aloha-Reedville area. Detectives are still actively working the case. They now believe that there were two people involved in the murder. They’ve also learned that a small to medium sized SUV was seen in the area where Okaruru’s body was found about the time of the murder.
