Body identified as P.E.I. teen missing for 6 months Last Updated Tue, 07 Jun 2005 13:45:29 EDT CBC News Police have identified a body recovered from a Prince Edward Island river as that of a 19-year-old who went missing last December.
In a news release issued Tuesday, the RCMP said dental records were used to positively identify Tyler Watts, whose body was spotted floating in the Hillsborough River on Monday.
Tyler Watts. Authorities believe he accidentally fell off a catwalk under the Hillsborough Bridge while making his way to Stratford from a Charlottetown bar early on the morning of Dec. 5, 2004.
Watts's family and friends have been leading search efforts for him ever since his disappearance.
At one point, police released surveillance videos from a downtown government building showing someone wearing a coat similar to the one Watts was wearing when he vanished.
No leads turned up to suggest what had happened to the young man, however.
On Tuesday morning, police said an autopsy conducted on the body showed no signs of foul play. The coroner has ruled the death accidental.
