MACKENZIE, B.C. -- A 20-year-old mystery has been solved with the discovery of the bodies of two teenagers who disappeared from this northern B.C. community May 6, 1985.
The remains of Tammy Morrissey, 15, and Robert Fisher, 18, were discovered Sunday not far from where they were last seen.
"They did not show up for school that morning after leaving their homes," Mackenzie RCMP Sgt. Brian Coldwell said yesterday. "The early indications were that the subjects had run away."
Morrissey and Fisher had been secretly dating against the wishes of their parents. It was reported at the time that when their young love was discovered, they disappeared together the next day. According to RCMP, the only things they took with them for sure was a pair of .22-calibre rifles, perhaps a pair of sleeping bags and maybe an axe. They reportedly took no money, extra clothing or identification.
