DES MOINES, Iowa -- A missing 12-year-old girl from North Carolina was found Tuesday night in the Des Moines metro. Jodie Collie triggered a nationwide Amber Alert when she disappeared Thursday night from her Rocky Mount, N.C. home. Police said Collie was dropped off at the Greyhound Station on 11th Street and Keo Way Tuesday night. Police said she called her grandfather, and he then called the FBI. The FBI notified Des Moines police. Officers found 12-year-old Collie at the station at about 8 p.m. Police said she seemed physically OK, but shaken up. She is now at Broadlawns Medical Center being checked out. It’s a “bad situation, obviously, terrible. Fortunately, it’s come out in a positive outcome. We did locate her and she is in relatively good health. And we’re very grateful we’re able to locate here and she’s safe,” said Sgt. Todd Dykstra, spokesman for the Des Moines Police Department. Police are now looking for a registered sex offender who is accused of abducting Collie. Phillip Denkler, 27, is thought to be driving a beige Hyundai Sonata with North Carolina plates.
