Updated the word "yesterday" to Monday" in the paragraph with the description of the child. Updated direction from southeast to southwest to St. Louis. A photo is also available. The Franklin County Sheriff's Department issued an Amber Alert on January 9, 2007 after the child was apparently abducted while walking home from school in Beaufort, Missouri. It is 50 miles southwest of St. Louis. William "Ben" Ownby, 13 years of age. He was taken at Buth Lane and Wild Rose Lane in Beaufort at 3:30 P.M. Monday January 8th. Ownby is described as 4 feet 11 inches tall, white male, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing glasses, a Rams hooded windbreaker and blue jeans. We have no suspect information available at this time. The vehicle may be a white compact truck with a camper shell possibly a Nissan or Chevrolet S-10. It was last seen headed east on U.S. Highway 50 from Beautfort. Anyone with information is asked to call the Franklin County Sheriff's Department at 636-583-2560 or dial 911

The Franklin County Sheriff's Department cancelled the Amber Alert on January 12, 2007 after the boy was recovered safe. A second boy, Shawn Hornbeck, was also recovered. Shawn Hornbeck had been missing since October, 2002, A suspect is in custody at this time.
